run an ultra in Scotland on the beautiful island of Arran

Ultra Trail Scotland has announced the 2019 edition of the race, which will take place on June 15 on the Isle of Arran. There are two races of 45km and 26km.

Ultra Trail Scotland launched in 2017 and is owned and directed by four people, Casey Morgan, Andrew Falconer, Noreen Devine and Daryn Cochrane.

Casey has competed in ultra trail races across the world as part of the Compressport Team and Arran always plays a huge part in his preparation.

There will be two races in one day and the routes will take in some of Scotland’s most spectacular and challenging ridges.

The Ultra Marathon route on Arran.

The Ultra Marathon is an updated course of 45km with more than 3500m of overall ascent. Organisers have removed a section out to Lochranza and a loop around the Cock of Arran so as to focus on the technical elements of Arran’s ridgelines.

The route includes a mix of terrain from forest trails to exposed ridges, as well as open mountainside, coastal paths and some scrambling.

The Tarsuinn Trail route on Arran.

The shorter, 26km course, the Tarsuinn Trail also takes in some of the island’s highest peaks and most stunning ridges. The total ascent is 2000m. (Beinn Tarsuinn is a mountain on Arran.)
