The Solstice Trail Series returns to Mugdock Country Park this summer with even more entry places. Such was the demand of the inaugural race last year, organisers have decided to make it bigger.
What is the Solstice Trail Series?
There are three races on consecutive Thursdays in June.
- The first race is 8km on June 6.
- The second race is 12km on June 13.
- The final race is 16km on June 20.
All the races start at 7pm at the park’s visitor centre, near Milngavie.
Ryan Scott, race director of the Solstice Trail Series, says: “We are really looking forward to bringing the Solstice Trail Series back to Mugdock Country Park.
“The races quickly sold out last year and due to popular demand we have increased capacity across the races in 2019.”

Similar to last year, runners can expect a mix of wide and fast trails, technical singletrack, hills and great views. The routes will be waymarked and will utilise the trail network in areas of the country park and Craigallian Woods.
Ryan adds: “The Solstice Trail Series has been created to provide a challenge for runners of all abilities. The 8km race has been designed to make it suitable for a fast time for experienced runners and as an accessible trail race for those new to trail running.
“The 12km and 16km races introduce some more challenging trails as well as the longer distance, making each race a step-up from the last.”
Entry costs are Race 1 at £18; Race 2 at £23 and Race 3 at £28, or the full series at a discounted price of £64.
Fees include a medal, goodie bag and race photographs that are free to download and use.
There will be trophy or the fastest three males and female in each race and fastest overall combined times for the series.
