Do you know where your food comes from? How far has it travelled? And at what cost? It is a well-known fact that many of the foods we keep in our homes are grown, produced or reared overseas and then transported to the UK for us to consume, resulting in a direct impact on the environment.
There are so many things we can do to help protect the environment. Be it big or small, every change counts and making more conscious decisions regarding the food we eat is a great place to start.
Whether this is cutting down our meat and dairy consumption, buying from local producers or only eating foods when they are in season, changing the way we eat and the way we buy our food can only be a positive thing.
Online retailer AO.com recently commissioned a survey as part of their Farm to Fridge project to find out what the UK thought about buying locally grown produce and the results are quite interesting.
