Outwell: Opal lantern and wireless speaker

If you are going camping or for an evening picnic, a lantern is a great idea. This Outwell Opal lantern comes with a speaker (connected via bluetooth) and also a USB port.

Features include:

This is a handy device for people who like to be spend time outdoors. It offers a reasonably bright night-time light, a speaker that is also good quality for being so small and a USB port in case you want to recharge your phone.

I like the size of the lantern for campsite camping or for taking in the campervan. I also the feel of it! This might seem odd but the plastic of the lanterns is sort of soft and tactile. It has a useful carrying strap, too.

It is not easy to find and operate the device.

The buttons to operate the lantern and speaker are a bit too small and they are difficult to find and operate in the dark. This is a bit of an issue when you are fumbling around in the dark trying to switch it on!

Carry strap.
USB port.

There is also an SOS button that offers a Morse code light sequence should you get into trouble. I am not really sure this is a necessary addition. This is the type of lantern you would use for campsite camping, rather than for wild camping or mountain adventures so the SOS function is not going to be so useful, in my opinion.

I think that £70 is quite a lot to pay but I have seen it on Amazon for a little less than £50.

For a useful camping gadget with several functions /uses in one. the Outwell Opal lantern is a great idea.
