A wonderfully inspiring film that follows Beth Pascall and Damian Hall as they set their impressive record run on the 230-mile Cape Wrath Trail is now available for viewing.
Recorded and created by Ellie and Matt Green of award-winning Summit Fever Media, the 40-minute video, Wrath, reveals the highs and lows of the impressive completion of the tough off-road route from Fort William to Cape Wrath, in Scotland, in four days, nine hours and 43 minutes.
The ultra runners set their FKT (fastest known time) last December, when Scottish weather is notoriously unpredictable and there were only six hours of daylight each day.
The challenge was self-supported and the pair slept (only a little) in mountain bothies.
The film showcases the stunning but often harsh landscape in the wilderness area of Scotland’s remote north west. Using a combination of on-the-ground footage and drone filming, Wrath also offers a deeper understanding of physical endurance and mental strength.
Beth and Damian are experienced GB ultra runners but the terrain is frequently described by them as tough and frustratingly slow. At one point Damian says: “One mile here is like three English miles.”
Beth says: “I think that last 3kms are the slowest I have ever run.”
In addition, the viewers of Wrath discover a behind-the-scenes story of the running friends and their quest for escapism and isolation.
Damian says: “We wanted to see if we could have a remote adventure.”
What is the Cape Wrath Trail?
The Cape Wrath Trail is acclaimed as Britain’s wildest, most remote and toughest trail. The unmarked path winds 230 miles northwards from Fort William through some of Britain’s most rugged terrain to reach the lighthouse at Cape Wrath, which is the most north-westerly point on the UK mainland.
