#postboxrun for lockdown motivation

The aim of #postboxrun is to visit all of the Royal Mail post boxes in your area on a run. I spotted the idea on social media after a friend, Nikki Sommers, did a #postboxrun where she lives in Wales. Then another friend Glenn Tait did a #postboxrun in Edinburgh.

I was looking for motivation to run (yet more) tarmac in lockdown and this seemed like the perfect solution.

I first located the post boxes via Post Boxes Draco and since there are dozens in my G61 postcode I chose to visit all the post boxes in Bearsden North (well, north of my home).

I might do the Bearsden South post boxes on another run.

I planned a route via OS Maps and it looked like it would be about 11km. I then set out with my map and a Suunto watch to record the route.

I did a little bit of navigation adjustment on the run and took in a couple more post boxes than planned, as well as a Gruffalo sculpture at Kilmardinny Loch.

The total route was 13km (8 miles) and I visited 15 post boxes. It was surprisingly enjoyable.

Here is my wee video:

You could do the same by running, walking or cycling to post boxes in your area.
