The latest shop, Country Cycles – Killearn, is located in the old bank building on Main Street. Since opening last month, Keith has seen a huge demand for sales and bike repairs.

He says: “The new shop in Killearn has been in the pipeline for about a year but lockdown offered the opportunity to focus on making sure the outlet could open.

“We can now welcome customers while abiding by the government guidelines on physical distancing and we have been stunned by how busy we have become and so quickly.”

The shop sells a wide range of bicycles for men, women and children across a range of mountain bikes, road bikes and electric bikes. Brands include Santa Cruz, Cube, Genesis, Saracen and Ridgeback, among others. There is also a stock of bike accessories, parts and clothing.

A section of the shop is devoted to repairs and demand is so high that Country Cycles has a booking system.

Keith says: “We prefer to mange expectations with a booking system rather than making promises we can’t keep. We offer a very high quality service and as a bike mechanic trainer I ensure all staff are properly trained.

“In addition, we make hand-built wheels, do suspension set-ups and service e-bikes. We love bikes – and we love to sell and service bikes to the highest standards.”

Lockdown has meant the shops at Mugdock and Loch Katrine have been closed for months but it’s hoped Country Cycles at Mugdock will re-open again soon.
