My review: Dynafit Ultra 100 running shoe
Dynafit has designed a new and very comfortable last for the Ultra 100. The shoe also offers high levels of cushioning and it is aimed at runners who train over long distances.
I really like the high comfort of the shoes, especially the cushioning. It’s not as cushioned as brands like Hoka One One, but does give great under-foot feel on hard ground.
The stretch lace cover helps to keep debris out of shoe, too. I also really like the bright colour choice.
The “POMOCA” outsole provides grip for a range of surfaces, so I would recommend them for hard-packed trails, rather than muddy hills. I find I slip about on wet, smooth rocks and in deep mud. Scotland does a lot of this kind of terrain.
The heel-to-toe drop is 6mm and a “Heel Preloader” gives good support and fit around the heel while also providing comfort due to a lower and softer profile on the back of the shoe.
Durability of the upper part of the shoe is also enhanced by a rubber toe and heel bumpers.
For a run that includes a mix of terrain but not steep mud, the Dynafit Ultra 100s are an excellent choice. If you prefer to feel more of the ground beneath your feet but still enjoy running on a range of terrain, try the new inov-8 Terrafly 300 G Max shoe.
What is not so good about the Dynafit Trail Ultra shoe is the sizing. I have a size UK9 and I would normally choose a UK8 or UK8.5. Make sure you go up a size if you buy a pair.
