CimAlp Orba 4 F mid-layer jacket is recommended for a wide range of activities, including walking, ski touring, Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, Nordic walking, fast-hiking and also general lifestyle.

Features include:

  • CIMAFLEX POWER fabric for warmth, breathability and stretch
  • YKK zip
  • Chin protection from zip
  • 2 hand-pockets with invisible zips
  • Flat stitching
  • RRP: £109.90, now £79
  • See CimAlp.

On test: CimAlp Orba 4 F mid-layer jacket

The jacket has a nice female fit, although it is perhaps a bit roomier than I would expect for a size small so if you want a neater fit, go down a size.

It feels cosy with a lovely soft and warm fleecy lining. It is ideal for really cold conditions when you might wear a thin base-layer, then add the Orba jacket and a waterproof/windproof jacket over the top.

The stretch fabric gives great freedom of movement and there is a thoughtful detail of ergonomic sleeves for good comfort when active.

The full length zip with chin guard means that when you zip it up and put on the hood, you will not end up with the top of the zip digging into face skin.

The two hand pockets are placed above the waist, so you can still access them when wearing a rucksack with a waistbelt. I always appreciate details such as this.

It’s the sort of jacket you might add on at the top of a mountain for the walk back down or if you have skied toured uphill and require windproofing and warmth for the descent.

If you are looking for a causal lifestyle jacket during the winter, it is a good looking jacket that could be easily worn to the office or to the pub after a walk.

It would be good to see this jacket with the extra feature of thumb loops.

The jacket is now priced at £79, which is more reasonable than the original £109, especially because the jacket can be used for all kinds of activities.
