CimAlp has designed the Gelas top to offer the “perfect balance between heat and perspiration wicking”. The Gelas top is meant to keep runners warm during sessions in cool periods. It has a zip neck opening and long sleeves. This is my independent review of the running product.

Features off CimAlp Gelas long-sleeve trail running top include:

  • SMARTWARM insulating fibres for excellent heat-to-weight ratio and great breathability
  • CIMAFRESH treatment to limit odours and bacteria
  • CIMAFLEX 3D weave technology an “incredible fitting”.
  • A zipped pocket at the rear
  • Reflective details
  • Thumb holes
  • Zip neck opening
  • Female and male versions.
  • RRP £58.25, currently £29.13.
  • See CimAlp for further product details. And to buy see: CimAlp link. (I gain a small commission for each sale, which helps me to run my website.)

Review: CimAlp Gelas long-sleeve trail running top

The first thing I noticed was the lovely soft fabric. It feels really good against the skin. The fit is slim and if you want a looser fit I suggest you go up a size. I found the top was a good fit on my torso, although maybe a bit too flared at the lower part. The arms are tight-fit.

It’s a very easy top to wear and to like. I have used it for cool summer runs, when I am starting out and need a bit of early warmth before taking it off. It is ideal for winter trail running as part of a system of layers.

The fabric is good at letting sweat evaporate out and it dries quickly. I haven’t noticed a build up of odour as I sometimes do with synthetic fabrics.

It’s not the lightest of tops and if you are looking for a very lightweight layer to stow in a running pack you might not choose this one. But for good weight-to-warmth ratio, it’s a great product.

The rear zipped pocket is useful for a key or something small. The problem I have is that the top is quite loose at the lower hem for me and so if I add anything to the zipped pocket it flaps around annoyingly. If I was to put anything in here it would be a bank card or something very lightweight. I usually carry a race pack anyway.

The CimAlp Gelas is a great long-sleeved running top in a lovely technical fabric.
