Despite unusually high Scottish temperatures and getting lost close to the end of the challenge, Jasmin Paris has set a new female 24-hour Munros record. The 37-year-old reached 29 mountains with a summit of at least 3000ft in the set time.
Her record breaking feat comes in the same month that Kim Collison set the new 33 Munros in 24-hour record.
Starting and finishing at Invercauld Bridge in the Cairngorms, Jasmin reached 29 summits within the 24-hour time limit. The inov-8 ambassador covered a distance of 144km and climbed a total of 8100m amid soaring summer temperatures.
Edinburgh-based Jasmin, who also holds the female record for the 23-peak Ramsay Round (16hrs 13mins set in 2016) was paced and supported in the 24-hour Munros record by family and close friends.
Jasmin, a vet, said: “There wasn’t really a previous women’s record. I guess it was mine by default, for the Ramsay Round.
“I had a schedule which allowed me to do anything from 29 to 31 Munros, although I had options to cut back after either 25 or 27 also.”
She added: “I feel like it’s been harder to get fit again after my second child than it was first time around. I probably have a little way to go still to reach my previous best, but in the circumstances, and the heat, I was really pleased to manage the 29.
“I had to dig in on the final section and I spent a lot of time thinking about the kids to keep myself positive.
“The final run in was rather more exciting than I would have liked. We got a little lost in the forest tracks at the end and I had to sprint the final few kilometres to make it back inside the 24 hours.”

Jasmin, who also has the overall record for the 268-mile winter Spine Race, started at midnight on Friday July 23 and ran through Saturday.
She said: “It was really hot throughout and I was getting in every river/stream we passed to try to cool down.
“The first section was incredible, with a full moon with loads of deer, which were silhouetted against the moon on the horizon. And then there was the dawn that slowly appeared.
“It was one of the most wonderful nights of running I’ve had.”
Jasmin wore inov-8 ROCLITE G 275 footwear. She is now focusing on September’s 170km Ultra Tour Monte Rosa (UTMR).
