Review: Munro Bagging Scratch Off Map
If you are ticking off the Munros – the 282 Scottish mountains with a summit of more than 3000ft – it is useful to have a way of keeping track. A new Munro Bagging Scratch Off Map enables you to keep a record fo the mountains you have bagged. It is also an attractive artwork that can be pinned or hung on the wall.
The map has been created by Edinburgh-based Kristen Bruce. She says: “I had the idea a number of years ago when I was an illustration student. In summer 2021, I injured my feet and I had to put my hiking on hold while I recovered.
“I found this challenging both physically and mentally, so I decided it was time to finally work on this project to keep myself occupied.
“I also wanted to create something that really let me lean into my love of being outdoors.”
Kristen, who has bagged 29 Munros, was keen to ensure she found the most environmentally friendly suppliers and materials possible. The map and packaging are produced in the UK.

- The map is printed on FSC Certified Paper.
- The tube is made of recycled cardboard.
- A plastic-free product.
There has been a great response to the scratch off map, with many people now asking when a Corbett map will be for sale.
My thoughts: Munro Bagging Scratch Off Map
The map is A1 size and both beautiful and practical. The colours of the map, a different colour for each region, are vibrant.
The Munro summits are featured as small scratch off triangles on the map itself, while numbers correspond to a list of Munro names in a panel below. The panel includes the heights the Munros. There’s also a Top 5 Highest Peaks section.
This system of reference is easy to use and it means the map looks clean and fresh. There are other scratch-off bagging maps on the market – and I have enjoyed using the one I have – but I think this new map is more attractive and cleaner looking.
It would be useful to also buy the magnetic wooden hangers for the map. Or else, you could pin it to the wall. The hangers are an extra £15 at the point of sale.
Kristen is a talented artist and you can see her other work here: kristenbruce.co.uk.
- I received a map in return for an honest review.
