On test: Berghaus Nula Hybrid insulated women’s jacket
It’s easy to wear – and like – the Berghaus Nula Hybrid insulated women’s jacket. The female-specific fit is a neat UK10 with good torso and arm length. The design is flattering.
The synthetic insulation is placed on the torso, front and rear, where most needed for warmth. The stretchy fleece fabric is utilised on the sides, arms and hood for comfort, freedom of movement and good fit.
The jacket is lightweight yet warm and packs into a small size.
It’s a versatile jacket for year-round use and can be worn as an outer layer in the summer or a mid-layer, under a waterproof jacket, in the winter.
It’s the sort of jacket that I stash in my walking rucksack and pop on when I feel the chill at higher altitude or when stopping for a bite to eat. It’s also good looking enough to wear for general wear.
The jacket ticks a few environmental boxes being PFC free and part of the “Fixed for Life” scheme. I would like to see more recycled materials being used in the jacket.
My friend Lynsey took the jacket on a recent backpacking and wild camping trip in Scotland and found it to be very useful. She said: “It’s easy to wear and very comfortable. It’s light enough to carry without noticing it’s there and useful when the temperature drops a bit.
“Although it’s a lightweight jacket it is warming and I like that the insulation is on the body while the stretchy fabric is at the sides and arms.”
• I received the jacket in return for an honest review.
