Pros: What’s good about the horizon tumbler?
Durability. There is no problem with shifting this between life scenes. When it isn’t on our kitchen table, deck, or in the backyard, the tumbler rode in my backpack so I could have my early morning tea on the hike as well as oatmeal in the evenings.
Finish. The full powder coat finish means I can toss it in the dishwasher without developing chips or scrapes. It also means you can choose the colour you want and not have to stress out about what it will look like once it gets scratched.
Non-slip base. The base of the tumbler is a from non-slip silicone so it doesn’t slide around. This is helpful when a child disrupts a table. The base is the same one you find on their other products and we haven’t had any problem with them peeling back or falling off.
Hot and Cold. Camelbak states that it will keep liquids hot for three hours and cold for five hours. I am sure it is close to that, however liquid rarely lasts that long with our family, so I can’t be sure.
Cons: What’s not so good about the horizon tumbler?
The cap could be better. I didn’t have a lot of problems with the slider, but I think Camelbak could make it better by eliminating the friction as it slides but strengthening the lock when it is in place.
It has a tri-mode lid, which just means that there is a setting between closed and fully open which allows less liquid to flow. I didn’t see a big reason for this, put perhaps with ice or certain beverages that would make a difference.
Conclusion
Camelbak makes great hydration equipment. This tumbler is functional, versatile, durable, comes in great colours and keeps drinks either cold or hot. I would say that I will be using it for years to come, but my daughter has already claimed it as hers.
