Adding a unique feel to your travel adventures: 4 options to consider

Travel provides some of the most magical memories in our lives. Unfortunately, for most of us, those adventures are far less frequent than we’d like. Therefore, it’s a good idea to make the most of the opportunities you have. Doing something out of the ordinary that makes your trip stand out from the crowd is the most effective solution.

The next question, then, is: “What are the best ways to add a unique touch?” Ultimately, every travel enthusiast is different and will need to find a solution that works for them. Still, here are four of the best options at your disposal.

1- Book A Tailored Tour

When exploring one of the world’s most magical destinations, basic packages from a travel agent only scratch the surface. If you truly want to see the wonders of a stunning place, a tailored tour is the answer. Sri Lanka tours, for example, open the door to a variety of adventures. Sights include colonial splendours, rock cut fortresses, temples, rain forests and endemic wildlife. There’s also opportunities to learn about local cooking and culture.

This is combined with the support of knowledgeable local operators to give you a far more meaningful adventure. So, if you want memories to last, this is a great option.

2- Embrace A Sporting Challenge

Another way to explore a destination in a slightly different way is to enjoy a sporting activity. Marathons and ultra running races are a great option for long distance runners. You get to see the region with a unique perspective while also soaking in the atmosphere. Alternatively, you could visit a country when it hosts a major sporting event like a World Cup of a sport you love or the Olympics. Saying you’ve been there is a certain bucket list tick.

Away from traditional sports, you could consider adrenaline activities. A skydive or bungee jump, for example, will ensure that the holiday memories live with you forever.

3- Take A Working Holiday

Working holidays give you an opportunity to spend more time in a destination than a normal vacation. So, while it’s not all play, it can provide a far greater insight into the culture. Volunteering schemes in Costa Rica are ideal for students and young adults. Meanwhile, older workers may get a chance to relocate through their company or travel as a digital nomad. The former may also result in a streamlined approach to gaining a working visa.

In truth, this option won’t be open to everyone. But if you work remotely or are preparing to take a career break, such as a gap year, it could be the ideal solution.

4- Be Spontaneous

Sometimes, there’s nothing like booking a fortnight at an all-inclusive resort on the beach. However, the most exciting adventures are often those that just happen. For example, landing in New York before making your way through different parts of the U.S. without prior plans can work wonders. Whether you hire a car or take internal flights is up to you. A little spontaneity can go a long way to building an open mindset to enjoy the adventure of a lifetime.

Removing the stress of sticking to a predefined itinerary is great. It also gives you the freedom to visit attractions that you learn about while away, which can be a wonderful thing.
