Awesome tri club pal on her road to Ironman Lanzarote

Written by Fiona March 08 2011

Keen Keavy is one of the most dedicated tri club pals I know. When she first attempted an Ironman she didn’t quite make one of the cut-off times and so she didn’t have the chance to complete the full race. Instead of giving up she trained more and tried again – and this time she finished her first ironman, the Ironman Cozumel. Again she could have given up. She could easily have told herself that she was now a very respectable Iron Lady. But not Keen Keavy.

This year she is training for Ironman Lanzarote, claimed as one of the toughest ironman events in the world. Having cycled the roads, ascents and in strong winds over the last week on Lanzarote I can vouch for how tough this event is likely to be. Keen Keavy was part of my Glasgow Tri Club crowd at Club La Santa last week and I watched in awe as she resolved each day to take on some bonkers sounding training schedule.

Here she writes on her own blog about her time in Lanzarote – and how she is feeling about the forthcoming Lanzarote Ironman.  I wish her all the very best. Big admiration Keavy!
