Lockdown challenges: #birthday3peaks running and walking

A birthday lockdown is tough when you like spending time with people, especially time outdoors. Instead, I decided to come up with an idea to get friends together, while staying apart. After the #goatfelling challenge comes #birthday3peaks.

The aim was to collectively ascend the height of the three tallest mountains in Wales, England and Scotland. These are known as the National Three Peaks.

I asked around a dozen friends to climb a local hill or slope for an hour, all on the same day. The friends were a bit of a random pick from across Scotland but they are all people that I knew would love a hill challenge.

Some of the stars of the #birthday3peaks challenge.

Ali and Jacob (from the same household)
Maria and Phil.
Beardy
Matt.

Each runner/walker kept a track of their elevation gain and sent details to me to I could add up the total.

We each kept track of our elevation gain.

Watch the video, curated and edited from film clips and photos taken by each runner or walker, and discover how many metres of total elevation we achieved in the end.

Perhaps you will be inspired to do a collective hill running/walking challenge with friends, together but apart during the coronavirus pandemic.

Hubby G and I mountain biked to and from our run slope.
