Sports holiday specialists BlackRock Lodge have added two women-only events to their training camps lists for 2016.
The cycling trips taking place this September are designed to suit cyclists of all abilities, from beginner to advanced, and each camp will be tailored to meet the needs of the riders so that everyone can ride at their own pace.
Formatted over a four-night, four-day weekend the camps will blend lots of time in the saddle with coached instruction, daily skills workshops and yoga. There’ll also be downtime to allow guests to relax and enjoy the facilities on offer at BlackRock.
Both camps will include the opportunity to discover the beauty of riding in the Alps and even some of this year’s Tour de France cols.
Professional coaching for the events will be provided by 001Sports’ Gary Willis, a former British and Scottish cycling performance coach who has worked with Commonwealth and Olympic athletes.
BlackRock Lodge owner Lizzy Mercer is also a keen cyclist. She says: “I know from personal experience how intimidating it can be on some occasions for female riders to get involved in these type of technical skills events. That’s why I’m really excited to have been able to add these two weekend camps to our sporting events list this year.
“I also know, as a working mum, that time is precious, so we’ve deliberately created focused four-day camps to offer a balance of great training with some all-important relaxation.”
BlackRock’s Women Only Cycle Camps take place from Wednesday September 21 and 28. The four night trips cost €750 per person and include professional coaching throughout, four nights’ half-board accommodation, all workshops and road support for rides. The prices are based on two people sharing and exclude flights and airport transfers.
