Where do you look for bargains and discounts when buying outdoor gear? Do you keep an eye on Gumtree, eBay and Facebook groups specific to your sport or hobby? Do you like to bid on eBay, rather than paying up-front, in the hope that you will get a bargain?
Or do you use the Google shopping search tool to hunt down the cheapest pair of gloves, bike, turbo trainer or whatever it is that you have your eye on?
The G-Force is brilliant at finding discounted items. He must be continually sweeping sales sites and forums and often tells me about great deals. He also asks for discounts when buying items, “just in case they agree”, or he uses discount cards given out by outdoors stores or organisations and groups.
I like to buy from brands and stores that I know I can trust to deliver swiftly and also that offer free returns. If I find a store, especially on-line, with free deliveries I am much more likely to buy there than one where I have to pay or have hassle returning an unwanted item.
I know that my brother is a big fan of discount vouchers sand deal sites and but until now I have not found any that suit my outdoors kit buys. Now I’ve spotted Voucher Slug things might well change.
What’s Voucher Slug?
It’s a free site that offers vouchers and discounts on many of the UK’s best known stores, from Debenhams to Ernest Jones, and including many outdoors shops such as Evans Cycles, Wiggle, Halfords, Mountain Warehouse, Tiso, Blacks and Decathlon.
The deals include money off vouchers, gift cards and discounted deliveries.
How it seems to work is that the staff at Voucher Slug (great name!) sniff out vouchers and discounts. They claim to work with more than 4,000 of the most popular merchants in the UK so if there’s a store you like, check it out on the site.
There are some discounts that you would get anyway and others that only appear via Voucher Slug.
There’s a disclaimer, too: “Voucher Slug makes money on some (but not all) vouchers via commission. Not all voucher codes or merchants pay commission and this does NOT affect how we treat each voucher code. Whether it makes us money or not, we are keen to bring you the latest discounts directly.”
If you are thinking about buying anything from one of your favourite outdoors stores it might save you a bit of money to check out any deals or vouchers on Voucher Slug first.
