The Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders is thrilled to be welcoming a return of the Enduro World Series (EWS) in 2021.

The action will take place on May 15/16 and will be round three in an eight-race series. The Scottish race is the only UK event in the world series. Other races will take place in locations such as New Zealand and Switzerland.

It is six years since the prestigious EWS was last hosted in the Tweed Valley.

Some 400 athletes, as well as support crew, from more than 35 countries will participate in the Enduro.

The Tweed Valley will also act as the first round of the 2021 EWS-E Series, putting e-bikes through their paces on some of Britain’s most challenging terrain.

The series visits Val Di Fassa in the Dolomites.
Whistler in Canada is another race host.
Action in Maderia.

Support behind the scenes

The local group that is hosting the international event in the Tweed Valley is being headed up by a recently formed community interest company Hub Events, in conjunction with a local organising committee.

The committee comprises local cycling and community groups, Tweed Valley Tourism BID, Scottish Borders Council, Forest and Land Scotland, Event Scotland, Dmbins and EWS, which now has headquarters in Innerleithen.

Businesswoman Pauline Archibald, from The Hub on the High Street in Innerleithen, along with Carmel Walsh and Emma Guy, who also works with businesses on the Tweed Valley Tourism BID, launched Hub Events as a vehicle to encourage events to come to the Tweed Valley.

Hub Events are keen to positively engage with community groups and businesses so that the benefits are reaped locally.

The World Series visits Tasmania.

EWS hosting delight

Pauline said: “To be in a position to host a round of the Enduro World Series in the Tweed Valley is hugely exciting and an endorsement of how special the Tweed Valley area is.

“We want to make sure the event has a positive impact on the local area, which is why we felt strongly that a community interest company in partnership with local groups should be at the heart of delivering the event.

“It’s the only UK round and one of only eight internationally, so it’s a huge opportunity to showcase our area all over the world.”
