Packing essentials for your next adventure holiday

Have you got an adventure holiday in the pipeline? Unlike more traditional beach holidays, these types of trips usually require a different packing list. Here are just some of the things you should be sure not to forget.

The right footwear

This might sound obvious, but it’s important to pack the right footwear to suit your activity, whether it’s walking, cycling, running or skiing. You’ll also need to think about what you’ll wear when not doing your chosen adventure activity. For example, for walking holidays it’s wise to not only pack walking boots but also comfortable trainers or slippers for downtime. If you are planning on staying in accommodation with shared bathroom facilities, it is sensible to pack flip-flops or sliders to wear during showering.

Reusable water bottle

Whether you’re walking, swimming, cycling, or abseiling down a mountain, the chances are you’re going to need to stay hydrated throughout the holiday. Bringing a reusable water bottle along is a good way to make this easy and means you don’t have to rely on being near a shop.

Try to pack one that fits easily into your bag or can be clipped onto its exterior. It is also wise to opt for an insulated bottle so that your water remains cold throughout the day.

Waterproof clothing

Nothing can ruin a good adventure holiday more than being ill-prepared for the weather. Make sure that you have considered all possible weather conditions you may be out in and pack accordingly. For some holidays a waterproof coat will suffice, but dependent on the activities you have planned you might be required to pack waterproof trousers and shoes, too.

Outdoor and travel clothes

It’s a good idea to think about packing clothes for your activities, as well as for when you are relaxing. For example, if you are heading off for a hiking holiday, or cycling or skiing, you’ll need clothing specific to the activity.

But you’ll also want to pack clothes for travelling to and from the holiday destination and for wearing in the evenings etc.

Headtorch

A head torch is useful if you are planning a backpacking trip, or you are planing ti be away in the winter months when daylight is more limited.

Portable charger

A portable charger is a great idea for times when you need to boost up your phone or sports watch. You’ll also need to take the relevant cables, too.
