Ultra runner Jack Scott won the Montane Winter Spine Race in a record-breaking time, while Claire Bannwarth was first female. Second-placed Damian Hall also broke the previous record time for the tough 268-mile running race.
Jack wins Spine Race 2024
Jack, 29, finished in 72 hours and 55 minutes, which was an impressive 10 hours faster than the former record holder Jasmin Paris, who ran 83 hours, 12 minutes. Damian’s time was 82 hours 25 minutes and makes him the second fastest in the histroy of the race.
The decisive moment in this year’s race occurred on Cross Fell, where Jack took a lead that Damian couldn’t reclaim.
In third place was Konrad Rawlik, who is married to Jasmin, in a time of 85:47.
Claire Bannwarth triumphs in Spine Race
In the women’s race, Claire defended her title to win again in a time of 92:02. Hannah Rickman was second in 104:41 while Lucy Gossage, a 14-time Ironman Champion, was third in 106:05.
In joint fourth place was Nicky Spinks and Elaine Bisson in 111:40.
